A Little Introduction to the “Tank”

The “Tank” is our year-round Indoor Rowing Facility. The tank is a 50 by 20-foot water-filled concrete structure that has a concrete divider down the centre, simulating an 8-person rowing shell. 

Rowers and coaches use the tank to work on technique without having to deal with the river’s current and bends. It accommodates both sculling (2 oars per rower) or sweeping (1 oar per rower).

The Tank is equipped with full-length mirrors which provide rowers instant feedback on their technique. The tank is a useful tool to use during inclement weather. Whether you are a sport rower or Edmonton’s next elite prospect, the tank is a valuable piece of our club!
