EXPERIENCED ROWERS

Joining as an Experienced Rower

If you have rowing experience (past Learn-to-Row, high school/uni rowing, etc.) and want to join ERC mid-season, we make it easy. You don’t have to wait for spring – just contact us and we’ll place you in the right group. Many newcomers join in fall or winter with our indoor training first, others drop into a competitive or rec crew on the river.

We’ll work with your skill level and goals. Here’s how:

1. Contact us – Tell us about your background and schedule.

2. Orientation Row: We’ll invite you to a practice and do a quick assessment (boat handling, fitness level, preferred sweep/scull discipline).

3. Choose your program:

4. Complete registration: You’ll sign up for a membership (prorated if needed).

5. Dive In: Jump into practices with your new crew. We’ll introduce you around, and we often pair new arrivals with a “buddy” rower for support.

FAQ

CAN I TRY BEFORE I JOIN?

Yes. After connecting with our club and a coach, you can come down to the club for an assessment of your rowing skills on water. We require that your RCA membership has been paid for the year. For more info, and to schedule a meeting, contact us at info@edmontonrowing.ca

No, not if you already know how to row. We may do a brief brush-up on technique after an on-water assessment of your rowing abilities. You’ll be able to join our programs immediately upon completion of the assessment.

ERC membership fees are based on an annual fee structure; however, we do have options on payment plans and offer prorated fees for those who join mid-year. Visit our membership page to learn more about our fees, proration and payment plans.
